Fall Adult Softball League

The TAYBS Adult Softball league is a co-ed league with the goal of providing an enjoyable, recreational activity for all participants, regardless of skill level.  The purpose of these rules is to foster a spirit of friendly competition among the participants which emphasize the social aspects of the game and minimizes opportunity for friction and confrontation.

  • The league is open to everyone aged 18 and over.
  • The non-refundable player registration fee for the season will be $40. 
  • There will be 8 teams, with a minimum of 14 and a maximum of 16 players on each.
  • Batting gloves are REQUIRED this year when at bat due to COVID19 precautions.
  • Prebuilt teams are allowed, but they must have 14 players minimum.  Any prebuilt teams under 14 will have players added to their teams to get up to 16.
  • Players from the previous season, can request to be played on the same team as last year.
  • The game will be played with 70’ base paths, and a 50’ pitching distance.
  • Teams will play with 10 fielders on defense – with at least 2 of them female.
  • Games are slow pitch “(mostly) swing till you hit”, 7 inning games. 
  • There are no coaches, and each team will designate a “player-captain”.
  • All games will be played at Craven Field at 15 New Fitchburg Rd, in Townsend, MA.
  • The Snack Shack will be open for sales with all proceeds going back into our youth programs.
  • Each team will be designated a color but must come up with their own unique team names.
  • Games are once a week on Saturday’s and will begin on September 5th and end on October 24th.
  • Adjusting each week, games will be 95 minutes and scheduled in 105-minute blocks, starting ~105 minutes prior to sunset and going backwards (see end of document for potential schedule). 
  • One day single elimination tournament on the last day of the season.  Tournament games will start at 9am and will be ~65 minutes and continue all day in 75-minute blocks.

  • Players with a temperature of 100.0 or higher should not be brought to the field.
  • Players must sanitize their hands upon arrival at the field.
  • Players must wear masks when not active on the field (dugouts or sidelines).  Medical exceptions are allowed.
  • Players are not allowed to share personal equipment with teammates.
  • At the conclusion of the a game, players should lineup alone the base paths, tip their cap, and state "good game" to the other team.
  • There is no food allowed in the dugouts/sidelines.  This includes candy, gum, and sunflower seeds.
  • Safety rules can changes during the season, and all players must abide by any new rules that are put in place.
