Early Placement Policy

If you feel that your child is ready to move to a higher division than their age allows, TAYBS uses the following process:

  • If your child is 3 and would like to have them play T-Ball early, we will only allow this if a parent volunteers to be a coach for their child's team. Please email info@taybs.org and we will help to get your child registered and you setup as a coach.
  • If your child is 5 and you feel they are ready for Rookie level, please reach out to their coach from the previous season. If they agree with your assessment, then just have the coach complete the Early Placement Form and will work to get them moved up no issue.
  • If your child is 7 or older and you feel they are ready for a higher division, please reach out to their coach from the previous season. If they agree with your assessment, then have the coach complete the Early Placement Form and we will add them to the waitlist for the higher division.

How the waitlist process works -

  • Your child by default will be placed in their age appropriate division.
  • There are no guarantees that your child can or will move to a higher division.
  • After the close of public registrations (3/17) and we have the total number of players that are age appropriate for that division -
  • Depending on the number of players on the waitlist and the number of net-new players, the league may or may not decide on having a player evaluation date.
  • We will determine how many teams we will have that season based on the total number of age appropriate players.
  • If there are available spots on those teams, and pulling up players does not destroy the numbers for the previous division, the coaches for those teams along with the TAYBS Board of Directors, will draft the players from the waitlist to fill any available slots. If your child is not selected to move up, they will remain in their age appropriate division.
  • Those selected to move up early, are typically based on talent and coaches recommendations (not by age), however on rare occasions this can done be by special circumstances as determined by the board of directors.
  • If your child is moved up to a higher division, you will be assessed a fee equal to the cost difference from the original program they registered with and the one they end up on.
  • There are no refunds if your child is not selected to move up a division.
  • Players that moved up early in the previous Spring Season, will not be placed on the new seasons waitlist. They will be automatically moved to the division they played in the previous Spring. If your child played in a higher division in Summer or Fall, but not in Spring, they will not get an automatic pass over the waitlist.
