Why Should You Become a Coach?
TAYBS survives on good coaches. We are always looking for responsible and enthusiastic individuals to support and coordinate league events and activities. As a coach, you should have a keen interest in the safety, well-being, and overall development of children.
Who Can Coach?
Anyone can apply to become a coach. Across the country, coaches are grandparents, siblings, aunts and uncles, retirees, community leaders, former players, friends, neighbors, and more. Any community member who wishes to become a coach may apply.
How to Register as a Coach
Step 1
- Register as a coach on the TAYBS site
- This is for us to be able to run your Massachusetts CORI Report.
- Make sure you enter the last SIX digits of your social security number – the state will reject it with only the last 4.
Step 2
- Go to www.trustedcoaches.org
- Log in or Register
- Click ‘Claim a Role/Join a Season’ button
- Enter information below:
- State: Massachusetts (Select from dropdown, do not type)
- Organization: Townsend Ashby Youth Baseball and Softball (Select from dropdown, do not type)
- Season Name: 2026 (Select from dropdown, do not type)
- Season Access Key: (Please see your email after registering as a coach)
- Click on Courses
- Complete the Child Safety Training
- Complete the Nationwide Criminal Background Check
Important:
- Massachusetts CORI backgrounds must be completed annually.
- National Background checks must be completed every other year.
- Child Safety Training must be completed once every three years.
